How insightful! I love how you’ve pulled apart that tension between knowing and loving. It reminds me, aptly, of romance itself: we know and love our spouse, but overfamiliarity can dampen the romance. It makes total sense that when you think about Germany as a setting, the overfamiliarity of daily stressors takes some of the romance out of this place. I’m super excited for your book about the glass-blower in Venice – I have my own romantic connotations there!

    1. Oh I’m so pleased you got something out of it! Venice is an incredibly romantic city and I had lots of fun playing with that!
