Travelling alone, it seemed a good idea to stay at a hostel, rather than a single room in a hotel or pension somewhere. Despite being stuck out on an extremely late pub crawl that has made me slightly less productive today, it was the right choice. The best part of it has been explaining to the others what I’m doing here. The hostel crowd has been really interested to hear how I’ve planned the plot and why the character needs to come from here and they ask a lot of questions. Then they are impressed with the answers.
I am (of course) completely up-front that I am writing a romance novel. I am a bit sheepish about it, so they don’t make any disparaging remarks. Then as we get talking and I explain the story a bit, they have all said they want to buy it. What an ego boost!
